D&D With Bull Moose

Bull Moose shifted to all-online sales to protect its employees and customers from COVID-19 before it was cool. Since then, their marketing manager has continued to foster the record store’s community online through the company’s popular social media channels with content like live streamed auctions and employee spotlights.

Ian and I were super honored when we were asked to play a part in this by running a Dungeons and Dragons adventure for some of the chain’s employees to air on Facebook Live.

Promotional Images

I wanted the promotional images for this event to look like teaser movie posters with the Bull Moose logo chiseled into stone. Assets were made for sharing on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter with an image specially formatted for “Stories” with space for text to be added with date and time information.

The Interface

This stream interface was built to behave more or less as a frame around a video call in Discord. This has the disadvantage of having a large unbranded area at its center, but the trade off is that it doesn’t completely break if somebody’s video drops, or if they drop from the call entirely. We had found in previous streams that the quality of Internet access here in Maine varies wildly from household to household.

The Stream

The stream went off without a hitch! Ian ran a delightful game for members of the Bull Moose retail staff. As the event’s producer, I monitored the stream and made live adjustments for quality, sharing feedback with Ian all along as he hosted the game.

BONUS ROUND: After the streamed event, this motif was used on a card game playmat. It looks pretty sharp!
