Riverton Mystery Club

Sir Janks, a friend and fantastic storyteller, asked if we wanted him to run a short adventure for us over on our Twitch channel. We said “heck yes!”

Initial Planning

The “drawing board” phase of this interface was fairly brief, as the interface for our weekly D&D game has proven a solid general foundation to work from.

Character Portraits

Everyone in our group described their character to me and I made a set of hand-drawn floating heads for use in the interface and promotion.

Social Media Promotion

Between sessions, we shared a little information about each character on Twitter to encourage people to come watch the game. I made graphics for each one, taking inspiration from conspiracy boards for the general concept. We’re a ragtag crew of mystery solvers, after all!

Stream Overlay

The conspiracy board motif carried over to the stream overlay, with each player’s video input taking the form of a photograph pinned to a cork board.

Going Live

This miniseries was a complete joy! Sir Janks set the stage for some delightful detective work and everybody brought so much personality to the table. The Riverton Mystery Club may very well be back again some day, but for the time being, you can watch the whole series on YouTube!

Many thanks to Sir Janks, Jekka, Yvan, Noah, and Ian for joining me on this whimsical adventure!
