Item Cards
Members of the “C-Team” Dungeons & Dragons game fan group (affectionately called the “Shadow Council”) gather at PAX events all over the country. It’s often an opportunity to share small gifts with cast members and fellow enthusiasts. Not wanting to attend PAX Unplugged 2019 empty handed, I worked with my husband Ian to develop a series of D&D item cards themed around our own characters as well as characters from our favorite series.
Design and Development
I had originally anticipated that these cards would look like Magic: The Gathering or Pokémon TCG cards, but I found that Dungeons and Dragons item text tends to be too lengthy for that. The design was changed to accommodate full artwork on one side and text on the other. “Warlock’s Tome” was the first card I developed.
Card Series
Each card features full artwork on one side and a D&D item on the other. I made the artwork and overall card design and Ian wrote most of the item text. The cards featuring our own characters were designed with our contact information on them so that we could keep in touch with our convention friends after the event ended.
